Of course my little skull (like yours) is plastered with memory murals like 'Home, Sweet Home' and 'There is no place place like home', but whenever I'm slowly descending to the polder fields of what is now Schiphol (Amsterdam) Airport, my heart is sinking in and those plaques feel more like a plague or tombstone, the announcement of a slow unavoidable dread and possible death. So no wonder when the tires finally hit the tarmac and the crowds start applauding the safe continuation of there lives all I can think is: 'Oh no, not this again'.

It figures, (and I tell you nothing new if you actually follow me on twitter) cause I and winter just don't get along. In fact we are in some perpetual long lasting fight, and without exception in all my 40+ 'how to survive the dutch weather' years I am still the one that gets floored.
